A good quality synthetic will stretch out your oil changes and will maintain rated viscosity for a longer % of the time it is in your engine. If you use high quality standard oil and switch it very (~3000 miles) frequently you would be just fine. Synthetic + FORD RACING filter is about the best you can do-- but best isn't usually cheap. As you can probably tell, Im pretty OCD about this stuff and have sent samples to Blackstone on different vehicles over the years. I can tell you I have never had an alarming report from them using synthetic oil but I have had some nasty reports come back on high quality standard changed at 4000 miles. If you are into this stuff, its pretty cool to send them a sample for analysis:

I'm sure big dealerships have the FORD RACING filters. My dealership is tiny mom and pop and they don't carry them. The maintenance plans are designed to produce profit for FORD - they are going to do the least possible maintenance that will not trigger warranty claims. The computer that assesses oil life is programmed that way. My approach is the opposite - ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure. YMMV. I run my vehicles to 200k miles; if you are trading out at 75 or 90k miles probably makes no difference.

75-90k.... I usually don't hit 40k. I get bored and want something new too quickly.

Yes and i guess i can call in advance if i'm taking mine in to the dealer to see if they carry the racing filters.

The maintenance plan is just a consideration. If it looks like it'll be a wash in cost and convince then i may consider the plan.

Might have a deal, although I added 100k warranty on this one hoping to keep it. Where would/will I go from here?

so who makes a good filter for it? I'll check tomorrow- K&N is my go to, and Redline oil. Wix is also a good filter along with Amsoil products

looks like this is it, I will double check it though Part Number: 138432-03151833
